CINCINNATI -- The Bengals are looking up at the standings, something they havent had to do for two years. David Clyde Rangers Jersey .And the defending AFC North champions have some significant issues to fix in order to make up ground. They couldnt run the ball again during a 24-16 defeat in Pittsburgh on Sunday, the Bengals third loss in a row to their Ohio River rival. This one left them playing catch-up, something they havent had to do. Last season, they led the division the whole way after an 8-0 start. Two games in, Cincinnati (1-1) trails both the Steelers (2-0) and the Ravens (2-0) with the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos -- also 2-0 -- coming to town for the Bengals home opener on Sunday. One of their most glaring problems in the first two games was their inability to run. They managed only 57 yards -- a 3.0 average per carry -- during a 22-20 win at the Jets in their season opener.Andy Dalton was able to get them through it, completing all but three of his passes in the last three quarters. They were even worse on Sunday in Pittsburgh in the rain, managing only 46 yards for a 2.6-yard average. Through the first two games, their top running backs havent even combined on 100 yards total.Jeremy Hill has 53 yards on 20 carries. Giovani Bernard has 42 yards on 10 carries. Their longest run of the season is only 12 yards. They get to the line and go nowhere.Ive got to break more tackles, Bernard said on Monday. Ive got to make that guy miss. As a running back, you always try to not let that first one tackle me. I havent done that.Their inability to run was most glaring in the third quarter, when they drove for a first-and-goal at the 1-yard line. Hill lost 2 yards on a run up the middle, and Dalton threw a couple of incompletions, forcing Cincinnati to settle for a field goal.Dalton got sacked a career-high seven times in the opener. He was sacked only once in Pittsburgh, but the running game was no better. One of those things got fixed this week, offensive coordinator Ken Zampese said Monday, referring to the sacks. This coming week, well get the other one handled.Cincinnatis running game ranked second-to-last in the league after two games. Only Minnesota -- which lost Adrian Peterson to a knee injury on Sunday -- was worse.Game notes Coach Marvin Lewis explained his decision not to challenge a call that C.J. Uzomah was out of bounds on a catch at the back of the end zone. The tight ends knee landed right by the back line, and the officials ruled it was an incomplete pass. The replays were inconclusive.First lets clear one thing up: The coaches dont get a view like you guys think they get, Lewis said, referring to the various angles and stop-action views. Thats such a fallacy of TV, of what they get upstairs. They dont get them. Then its immediate, weve got to go to the next play. The Bengals thought that receiver Tyler Boyds fumble that essentially ended the game should have been reversed. After a review, the officials upheld the call. The Bengals thought he fumbled after he was down.Everybody on the field thought the opposite, and it didnt work that way, Lewis said.---Online: AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and AP NFL Twitter feed: www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Jason Grilli Jersey . -- Jacksonville wide receiver Cecil Shorts will likely be a game-time decision whether hell play Sunday in the Jaguars home game against the San Diego Chargers. STARKVILLE, Miss. -- Rawleigh Williams ran for 205 yards and four touchdowns and also threw for a touchdown to lead Arkansas over Mississippi State 58-42 on Saturday night. The Arkansas offense did just about anything it wanted against Mississippi State, gaining 661 total yards. The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Williams was easily the Razorbacks biggest star, running for touchdowns of 72, 42, 7 and 33 yards -- all in the first half. The holes were huge, Williams said with a wide grin. It just felt like I was running straight. I didnt have to do too much. Then to top off his big night, Williams took a handoff in the third quarter and stopped short of the line of scrimmage before jumping in the air and tossing a 1-yard touchdown pass to Austin Cantrell.Arkansas coach Bret Bielema enjoyed watching Williams touchdown pass, but it was a strong stiff arm during his 42-yard touchdown that slammed a Mississippi State defender to the ground that really caught his attention. He played with a little bit of a chip on his shoulder, Bielema said. Played with a purpose.Arkansas (7-4, 3-4 Southeastern Conference) broke a four-gaame losing streak to Mississippi State. Shawn Kelley Rangers Jersey. Austin Allen completed 18 of 25 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns for the Razorbacks.Mississippi State (4-7, 2-5) had a big night on offense as well.Nick Fitzgerald ran for 131 yards and four touchdowns and also threw for 328 yards and two touchdowns, but the Bulldogs could never hold the Razorbacks long enough to climb back into the game after falling into a 38-14 hole by halftime.Mississippi State receiver Fred Ross caught 10 passes for a career-high 171 yards and two touchdowns. But all those big numbers didnt matter because the Bulldogs defense couldnt make a stop.We missed tackles, had some bad fits, didnt execute clean, Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said. When you give up that many yards its not one thing. Its several things.UP NEXTArkansas: The Razorbacks have a quick turnaround before playing at Missouri on Friday.Mississippi State: The Bulldogs have a road game against rival Mississippi in the Egg Bowl.
